Evergreen Lake with the foothills behind it, Colorado

Jefferson County mountain communities

Evergreen & Morrison

Bear Creek climbs from Morrison, at the mouth of its canyon near Red Rocks, through Idledale and Kittredge to Evergreen, an unincorporated community of about 9,300 people at 7,162 feet. The corridor is ringed by Denver Mountain Parks and Jefferson County open space, and it is about 19 miles from downtown Denver via I-70 and Evergreen Parkway.

Haven & Co has represented two sales on Keystone Drive in Evergreen, including a $2.4 million mountain home in 2026.

Evergreen Lake and downtown

Evergreen Lake, created in 1927 by damming Bear Creek, sits at the center of a 420-acre park with a lake house, summer boating and winter skating. Historic downtown Evergreen follows the creek just below the dam, and Alderfer/Three Sisters, Elk Meadow and Mount Falcon parks surround the town.

Morrison and Red Rocks

Morrison, a town of about 400 residents at 6,368 feet, sits at the canyon mouth off C-470. Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, owned by the City and County of Denver and dedicated in 1941, seats 9,525 at about 6,450 feet and hosts concerts from spring through fall; the 868-acre park is open for hiking year-round.

Homes and housing character

  • Mountain lots of an acre or more are typical outside the Evergreen core, often on well and septic, with a mix of 1960s–90s custom homes and newer builds.
  • Wildfire mitigation, winter road access and water rights are routine parts of due diligence throughout the corridor.
